Terms and Conditions

These terms explain how HandyDriver works, what customers and drivers are responsible for, and how payments and cancellations are handled.

Key terms

  • HandyDriver is a platform connecting customers with independent drivers to drive the customer's personal vehicle.
  • HandyDriver does not own vehicles and is not a transport provider.
  • Customers and drivers are responsible for meeting eligibility, insurance, and legal requirements.

Booking types and route rules

  • Customers can create round trips, drop-off trips, and HandyDriver’s unique drop-off-your-car-without-you bookings.
  • Round trips still require a destination so HandyDriver can estimate distance, recommend minimum booking hours, and validate long-distance route fit.
  • Drop-off trips, including drop-off without you, must keep pick-up and destination in the same Australian state and include the configured driver conveyance fee.
  • Recurring bookings are only available for same-state round trips.
  • Cross-state round trips are only permitted for non-recurring bookings longer than 8 hours.
  • Drop-off-without-you bookings require accurate receiver details and the receiver must share the one-time handover code before the trip can be completed.

Customer responsibilities

  • Verify the driver's licence and identity before handing over your vehicle.
  • Ensure your vehicle is legally registered, roadworthy, and comprehensively insured.
  • Provide accurate pick-up, destination, booking hours, and receiver details where required.
  • Review the estimated minimum-hours guidance and book a duration that reasonably covers the planned route.
  • Complete payment before the applicable booking deadline.
  • Do not create overlapping unpaid bookings for the same time window.

Driver responsibilities

  • Maintain a valid full Australian driver's licence at all times.
  • Keep availability, service areas, and calendar blocks accurate so only workable bookings are accepted.
  • Review the trip type, route, and booked hours before travel and contact the customer if the booking duration does not reasonably match the journey.
  • A 5% platform fee is deducted from each paid booking before payout credit.
  • Never operate a vehicle while impaired by alcohol, drugs, or medication.

Payments and cancellation

  • All prices are in AUD inclusive of GST.
  • The platform charges $35 per hour.
  • Live payments are processed securely through Stripe.
  • Recurring bookings are charged per scheduled trip occurrence, not as one upfront series payment.
  • Customer-side discounts, referral rewards, and promotions do not reduce the driver’s fixed trip value or driver invoice amount.
  • If no driver accepts a request within the active request window, the booking is cancelled and the customer can book again later.
  • Cancellation and refund outcomes depend on timing relative to trip start.
